Room in famous area - Stork 31

Not The Best Positive: I normally don’t like leaving negative reviews because I understand that there is a business and real people behind every property. However, I also believe it would be unfair to future guests not to share my experience so they can make an informed decision. One of the main reasons I chose this particular room was because the property advertised an elevator. A few days before our arrival, we were informed that the elevator was broken and would not be working during our stay. I understand that things can break unexpectedly, and I would not blame the property for the fact that the elevator stopped working. What I do find disappointing is that, as far as we could see, the room continued to be advertised and sold on Booking.com as having a functioning elevator during the period when it was not working. We were also informed that toiletries were not provided. This meant either bringing basic items with us from home or finding a shop and buying them after arrival. This may be acceptable if clearly stated before booking, but it was disappointing to discover it only shortly before our stay. During our visit, temperatures were above 30°C outside, and the room was also extremely hot. Since we could not use the elevator, we had to climb the stairs every day in that heat. A fan was provided, but unfortunately it had very little effect and did not make the room significantly more comfortable. It was also during the World Cup, and we had expected to be able to watch some matches on television while visiting Switzerland. However, there were no regular TV channels available, only Netflix. The view from the room was another disappointment. The windows faced the walls of the neighbouring building, which was only a few metres away, so there was essentially no view at all. Positive: La posizione. Ma costa tanto e a quel prezzo si trova decisamente di meglio. Negative: Abbiamo prenotato "Room in famous area - Stork 31" per un soggiorno a Zurigo che si è trasformato in un incubo fin dalle prime ore. Rumore insopportabile. L'appartamento non è in alcun modo insonorizzato e si trova a ridosso di ben tre cantieri edili, uno dei quali praticamente attaccato al palazzo. Il rumore dei trapani era così forte da impedire persino di sentire cosa diceva la persona accanto, anche a finestre chiuse. Nessuno ci aveva avvisati: bastava una riga nella descrizione ("lavori in corso nelle vicinanze, possibili disagi") per permetterci di scegliere consapevolmente. Non l'hanno fatto. Caldo soffocante. La descrizione non specifica l'assenza di aria condizionata. In una stanza così piccola, con temperature elevate, l'unico ventilatore fornito muoveva solo aria calda, rendendo il soggiorno praticamente impossibile. Nessuna disponibilità a trovare una soluzione. Di fronte all'impossibilità di restare, abbiamo proposto di liberare subito l'appartamento pagando comunque la prima notte, come gesto di buona fede. Il gestore ha rifiutato il compromesso e ci ha fatto pagare l'intero soggiorno, pur non avendo mai realmente utilizzato la struttura. Comportamento scorretto. Il gestore si è mostrato scortese e ha finto di non comprendere il problema segnalato. Secondo Booking, inoltre, non ha mai risposto alle nostre richieste inviate tramite la piattaforma. Un'esperienza deludente su ogni fronte: struttura non idonea, descrizione fuorviante, gestione del problema pessima. Sconsigliato.

Positive: Location is unbeatable, right next to Fraumünster and very short walk to Paradeplatz to get on the tram. Check-in was great, even late in the evening because of a delayed flight. Negative: No washing macine as described and the kitchen facilities were only utensils on a shelf, no kitchen sink or table. Had to bring my own toiletries as only a small piece of bar soap was provided.
